Slashlight

Creating a new interaction method for users to play games with

Role: Interaction Designer & Developer

For one of my assignments in the Media Arts + Practice honors program at USC, I had to learn how to use Processing and create a game. Most people did simple mouse-maze games, but I wanted to try my hand at trying to develop something different.

Slashlight is the video game I made that uses recognizes a phone's flashlight and converts it into a light saber sword (don't sue me) that would need to be used to cut the objects in the game. As the player slashed, it would make the appropriate light saber wooshes and contact noises when the saber hit something.

Since this was a quick assignment, I modeled the game after Fruit Ninja but the big takeaway here was developing the code to recognize the phone and working with it to make a new augmented reality experience.
